I recently joined “Patriot Guard Riders” and I went on my first mission for Master Sergeant Thomas Lewellen this past week. I knew it was going to affect me and it did. It is my honor to participate with other men and woman to show our respect for fallen Soldiers, Sailors and Marines.   Michele and I are working on a fundraiser for the organization and will be posting details later this month.

Patriot Guard Riders Mission Statement

The Patriot Guard Riders is a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation. We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America’s freedom and security. If you share this respect, please join us.

We don’t care what you ride or if you ride, what your political views are, or whether you’re a hawk or a dove. It is not a requirement that you be a veteran. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or what your income is; you don’t even have to ride. The only prerequisite is Respect.

Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. Each mission we undertake has two basic objectives:

1. Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.
2. Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protester or group of protesters.

We accomplish the latter through strictly legal and non-violent means.

To those of you who are currently serving and fighting for the freedoms of others, at home and abroad, please know that we are backing you. We honor and support you with every mission we carry out, and we are praying for a safe return home for all.

Brooke 2.0 – Bridal Session Virginia Beach

May 12, 2009 3 comments

I had to finally breakdown and buy a new computer last month, while moving some images over I decided to revisit a few previous sessions we’ve had with a new twist.  We will call these 2.0 and the first set is with Brooke.   If you haven’t figured out what I like to photograph best it is children, people in love and brides with a fun spirit and open mind.

Brooke was an absolute treat to work with.  She was open to let me play around and that usually = a fun session with the potential for great images.  A little over a year later Brooke has a baby on the way too.  Congrats to Gabe and Brooke, hope you like these images and bless your new addition.

Sandy “Sam” Puc – Tots Teens Tour 09

April 16, 2009 Leave a comment

Michele and I went to Richmond Monday and saw Sandy Puc on her Tot’s 2 Teen’s Tour and all I can say is WOW.  She is a very dynamic speaker and one of the best childrens photographers in the country.

It started at 4PM and we didn’t leave until almost 11PM.  She completely covers her style working with children in detail and how she presents the images to her clients.  She really is open with her heart too in regards to giving back to her community and giving to worthy causes.  She is a co-founder of  Now I Lay me Down to Sleep organization.

Over the next several weeks we will be updating our blog with new portrait options for your little ones that we picked up from Sam, be sure to sign up for our RSS feed to keep updated.

Monthly Spotlight – Paper Moon Photography

July 2, 2008 11 comments

Some of you that read my blog once in awhile may have noticed the photographer listings on my sidebar.  I am very fortunate to have found a group of fellow togs that that are willing to share information and teach others what they know very openly.  I have so many friends throughout the world that are so good technically and some just reach down into your heart with their work. Once a month I am going to be featuring another photographer and his or her work to show where I get my inspiration from and why my skills are getting better.  At least I hope they are.

Some photographers are world famous and many are well known.  Some fly below the radar and may be in rural areas or just haven’t truly been given their just due quite yet.  My first spotlight victim, (hehehehe) is Tatum a young lady from Saskatchewan, Canada and her studio’s name is Paper Moon Photography.

Whenever I see Tatum’s work I just know she is connecting with her clients on a personal level.  I see it in their expressions and feel it conveyed in her images.  You can’t teach that in photography school boys and girls.  She was very fortunate to learn photography from her father and has been in business serving her clients since 2000.

I am putting up a couple of her images that I just love.  If your in Canada visiting and want some photographs of your family that convey real meaning and have impact IMHO Tatum rocks.
