I recently joined “Patriot Guard Riders” and I went on my first mission for Master Sergeant Thomas Lewellen this past week. I knew it was going to affect me and it did. It is my honor to participate with other men and woman to show our respect for fallen Soldiers, Sailors and Marines.   Michele and I are working on a fundraiser for the organization and will be posting details later this month.

Patriot Guard Riders Mission Statement

The Patriot Guard Riders is a diverse amalgamation of riders from across the nation. We have one thing in common besides motorcycles. We have an unwavering respect for those who risk their very lives for America’s freedom and security. If you share this respect, please join us.

We don’t care what you ride or if you ride, what your political views are, or whether you’re a hawk or a dove. It is not a requirement that you be a veteran. It doesn’t matter where you’re from or what your income is; you don’t even have to ride. The only prerequisite is Respect.

Our main mission is to attend the funeral services of fallen American heroes as invited guests of the family. Each mission we undertake has two basic objectives:

1. Show our sincere respect for our fallen heroes, their families, and their communities.
2. Shield the mourning family and their friends from interruptions created by any protester or group of protesters.

We accomplish the latter through strictly legal and non-violent means.

To those of you who are currently serving and fighting for the freedoms of others, at home and abroad, please know that we are backing you. We honor and support you with every mission we carry out, and we are praying for a safe return home for all.

Fun Harley Commercial

I ran across this video on YouTube tonight and I remembered seeing this commercial a few years ago, probably during a Super Bowl.  I always thought it was cute, too dang short but cute.   Can’t go wrong with Guns and Roses either.   I know this year all I want to do for fun is just ride my bike with the little woman on the back.

For about two years now I have been subscribing to monthly emails from Mac Anderson of  www.simpletruths.com.   Simple Truths is a website that sells inspirational books and corporate gifts.   He does a wonderful job of producing videos with outstanding photography that sometimes reach down and touch your heart.   I wanted to post one of my favorites from his website.   There are many, go have a look.

Virginia Beach Marketing Partner

I have been looking for someone who can create some modern looking marketing pieces and help me a little with my blog.  I really wanted someone local that I could sit down with and bounce ideas off of vs. someone in another state or country.

I ran across Sarah, one of the owners of S. Joy studios: http://www.sjoystudios.com/ here in town and I wanted to give her a big thanks for creating a unique piece for my senior marketing.  She and her husband John specialize in website creation, blog design, logo design, etc.  If your looking for a very creative locally owned company to do things like this I highly recommend S. Joy Studios.  I did a fun headshot for her too.

Today is the First Anniversary of our blog (07/11/2007).

We wanted to do something totally fun and memorable to celebrate our first 12 months offering professional portraiture and wedding photography in Hampton Roads. I have been trying to think of something that would be huge and have real meaning for someone. Giving away a free portrait session (nah.. not big enough) or something like a new Cadillac (heck I can’t afford one myself) was out of the question so here it is..

Your Wedding Story Contest.. Feel free to keep reading, it get’s really good.

We want to hear your story and we’re giving away an incredible prize. Send us your story (how you met, how you fell in love, the proposal, all the details and a picture of you two) and we will select one couple for complimentary photography coverage for their wedding day.

Tell us why you deserve a free wedding collection from Studio 757 Photography and you might just end up sharing your story courtesy of an award winning photographer. Send your story to studio757@yahoo.com by August 11th 2008.

Details: Current or previous clients are not eligible. Wedding to be photographed anywhere in the United States however travel fees will apply if beyond the greater Hampton Roads Virginia area.

Prize consists of wedding coverage and an album credit only. No purchase required, however prize is limited to coverage and a basic album. By entering this contest you consent to the publication of your story and images, and waive any related claims or liability against David Reed and Studio 757 Photography.

I am psyched about this and hope we have lot’s of entries. There is a lucky couple out there, are you the ONE?

What Warms Your Soul..??

July 10, 2008 4 comments

I ran across this video today that and I just had to post it up. We hear so much bad news with things going on in the world and in our own cities that sometimes it is just is too much. Then I see things like this that just make my day. The two little girls in the video are just too precious.

I know I am grateful for what I have, my families love and to have a career that I am passionate about everyday. I am blessed in so many ways.

Watch the video and then ask yourself, What Warms Your Soul? Hope this video makes your day a little brighter like it did mine. Share it with a friend and make their day too.
